Jennifer Tilly was conceived in Los Angeles on 16 September 1958, in extremely poor conditions. Her mother was teacher at a local school and was an unremarkable actor, and her father sold cars. Jennifer was the second child of four, frequently attended theater performances by her mother and was very delighted. Jennifer's parents split after she turned five. Jennifer lived the majority of her life in British Columbia, after her mother moved there with her four children. Jennifer was not able to get a good education, despite being a talented young person. In her early years Jennifer often became targeted by bullies at Canadian schools. When her enthusiasm for theatre began to fade in high school she started playing in theatre together with her mom. Her children were all encouraged to be passionate about performing arts. Then, she started to act.
